Xobni Socializes, Brings Smartr App to Android and Gmail

There is a reason why its name is “inbox” spelled backwards—Xobni steps out of the box when it comes to how you receive emails and text messages.  It allows users to manage contacts, files and social networking applications either through desktop or mobile phone efficiently. A tool that helps you handle your relationships professionally and personally.

Today, Xobni reinvents the contacts manager and introduces Smartr Contacts for Gmail and Android phones. This app has a built-in analytics tool to which ranks your contacts by importance, based on interactions and histories.

In his official statement, Xobni CEO Jeff Bonforte provides an overview of the app and enhancements that will excite users:

“Our new Android product, Smartr Contacts, seamlessly handles many times more relationships than any other product has ever attempted (10,000), does it fully automatically, comprehensively, and yet is still the fastest and simplest contact manager you’ve ever used. In fact, we think the search and ranking is so good, it is a failure if you need to scroll to find the person you want. This new Android app manages thousands of contacts far better than any other address book handles a few hundred.

“And while the interface should feel familiar, the application is remarkably powerful, offering more and more smarts with each tap. If you have an Android phone and use Gmail, Google Apps and/or Outlook, I hope you’ll give it a try. If you are an iPhone user, we’re almost ready for you, too.”

Xobni has been a favorite tool to socialize your inbox.  Microsoft is one of the many which was intrigued by this app and they ended up integrating Xobni’s Gadget Store with Outlook. The service is deemed useful to enterprise operations that want to enable the creation of an Outlook sidebar or email message body application for internal use.  With Smartr Contacts, Xobni once again will show its power to combine individual exchanges with social media content to offer a comprehensive and complete view of all your contacts in a single place.

The booming arena for social apps development is luring consumer and investor interest. Social enterprise network Yammer just secured a $17 million funding round led by a former Facebook executive.  Another key player in the social enterprise apps production cosmos is Salesforce.com which has just confirmed the soon-to-arrive service do.com and made an acquisition of its own last week.  Rypple also realizes the need to socialize the way employees are given recognition via its social performance management platform. This product enables peers and bosses to provide real-time feedback, give kudos and coaching even when out of the office.
