Cloud data management and data security company Rubrik Inc. today announced a deepening of its partnership with Google Cloud with two new integrations that extend its reach into managed database protection and agentic artificial intelligence governance.
Announced at the Google Cloud Next conference this week, the first new release pairs Rubrik Security Cloud with Google Cloud SQL by adding cyber resilience for managed PostgreSQL databases and the second release brings Rubrik Agent Cloud to Google’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform to give customers a governance layer for AI agents built on Google Cloud infrastructure.
Both the announcements reinforce Rubrik’s positioning as a security and AI operations vendor that leans heavily on its ability to sit across data protection and AI guardrails.
On the database side, the new Cloud SQL integration gives customers immutable, automated backups with air-gapped protection against ransomware and cross-region recovery.
New Cloud SQL instances are automatically discovered and brought under global policies and customers can choose between Google Cloud Storage Archive, Coldline or Nearline tiers to align backup costs with usage. Retention is uncapped and tag-based service level agreement policies enforce consistent rules across instances for compliance.
“Organizations shouldn’t have to choose between cyber resilience and disaster recovery,” said Anneka Gupta, chief product officer at Rubrik. “With Google Cloud, we’re giving our joint customers immutable backups that work alongside their existing disaster recovery strategy, so they can meet compliance requirements, protect against threats, and recover fast, all without changing their architecture.”
The release is seeking to address an issue found in Rubrik Zero Labs research, with a recent study finding that 90% of information technology and security leaders reported cyberattacks in the previous year with 35% pointing to securing data across varied ecosystems as their top challenge.
The second release, Gemini integration, sees Rubrik Agent Cloud being offered as a control layer for autonomous agents built on the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, with the company pitching semantic governance and real-time guardrails as the missing piece in enterprise agent deployments.
RAC is powered by Rubrik’s Semantic AI Governance Engine, which is an intent-driven governance engine that replaces static rules with continuous oversight of agent behavior.
The integration adds an Agent Inventory that auto-discovers agents running on the Gemini platform with visibility into risk, access permissions and policy violations. A feature called Agent Rewind lets administrators undo an autonomous agent’s destructive action, something Rubrik claims is unique to its platform.
The Agent Cloud announcement is tracking an industry shift that Gartner Inc. expects to accelerate this year, with the research firm predicting that 40% of enterprise applications will be integrated with task-specific AI agents by the end of 2026.
“Enterprises want the speed of Google Cloud’s AI technologies but also require the safety of Rubrik’s cyber resilience,” said Devvret Rishi, general manager for AI at Rubrik. “Through this collaboration, we will remove the governance bottleneck for customers developing with Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.”
Satish Thomas, vice president of applied AI and platform ecosystem at Google Cloud, said Rubrik provides a unified control layer for agent deployment and security that the search giant sees as critical for customer success as enterprises move into what he called the autonomous era.
Both integrations are being demonstrated at the Rubrik booth during Google Cloud Next in Las Vegas, which runs through Friday.
