AppSense and App-DNA Partner for VDI Migration
Virtual desktop solutions provider AppSense and application migration services firm App-DNA teamed-up to offer customers a joint migration service, designed to help companies move Windows-based apps to Windows 7 and VDI platforms.
App-DNA currently assesses a customer’s infrastructure as well to be able to offer an insight on how to achieve end user experience goals. In addition, the App-DNA AppTitude management platform is also made available alongside AppSense’s own VDI technologies.
“Virtually every corporate and enterprise organization is in some phase of planning or deploying new desktop infrastructure. In every case, this includes various combinations of Windows 7, virtual desktops and remote desktop services,” says David Roussain, VP of strategic alliances for AppSense. “In addition, we believe every organization is undergoing the additional pain of application migration, that’s where our partnership with App-DNA steps in to accelerate the desktop transformation lifecycle.”
Last month, AppSense launched a certification program for IT professionals working with its User Virtualization platform. In order to receive the certificate one needs to pass a test entitled “APP-100: Installing, Configuring and Maintaining AppSense User Virtualization Environment,” alongside which the company is also offering some optional training. The program was announced after another initiative, called the Certified Service Provider program, was unveiled. AppSense offers training and support, among other things, to partners that plan on using the company’s product to power their own, thus helping AppSense monetize its ecosystem.
And AppSense isn’t the only one busy in the virtual desktop space. This week Pivot3 launched the vSTAC VDI appliance for VMware View, which can be stacked to increase capacity for large-scale deployments that support a big number of end user.
