Security becomes a shared job as AI widens the attack surface
Cloud providers and security companies are being pulled into tighter formation as artificial intelligence widens the enterprise attack surface faster than any single supplier can cover it. The AWS CrowdStrike partnership is one of the clearest examples, built over a decade of co-selling, native integrations and shared customers now being stress-tested by agentic workloads.
That shift has moved the relationship from infrastructure plumbing to joint defense of models, agents and the services ecosystem around them. Customers building applications on cloud infrastructure are also building agents there, which enlarges the ground both companies have to protect, according to Mona Chadha (pictured, right), director of AI and strategic partnerships at Amazon Web Services Inc.
“Over the decade, what we continued to do was build innovations together,” Chadha said. “We’ve evolved from machine learning to generative AI to now agentic and building these agents. There’s a lot of opportunity there, but there [are] also a lot of threats.”
Chadha and Amanda Adams (left), senior vice president of global alliances at CrowdStrike Holdings Inc., spoke with theCUBE’s Dave Vellante and Rebecca Knight at Fal.Con, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. (* Disclosure below.)
Where the AWS CrowdStrike partnership meets the agent problem
Neither company is trying to solve AI security alone. CrowdStrike’s answer has been Project QuiltWorks, an alliance drawing in cloud providers, systems integrators, technology suppliers and even law firm and insurance partners
“QuiltWorks is a coalition of folks and partners who join us; they leverage our platform,” Adams said. “We announced yesterday Falcon IQ, and this is a tool built on AWS that allows a partner to essentially drive an assessment and highlight the opportunities, the priorities. It’s using AI to accelerate the time from discovery to remediation down to minutes.”
The commercial upside is real. CrowdStrike counts more than 900 technology integrations across its partner ecosystem, Adams noted, and channel and services partners are building new revenue streams on top of the joint stack, Chadha said. But the discipline underneath it has not changed as agent-level controls arrive, she added.
“Build everything with security in mind. Security is job zero,” Chadha said. “As long as we have that security layer built in, that’s where we can ensure that we have the proper guardrails, that then ensure that these agents don’t go out of that sandbox.”
