EMC Gets Aggressive with Cloud Services Portfolio, Bundles with More Partners

Capgemini and EMC  are offering government agencies a fully managed technological offering that couples the storage vendor’s technology with Capgemini’s outsourcing services. The two firms announced the solution at EMC’s Momentum conference last week.

The joint venture, which goes by the name of Case-as-a-Service, is based on EMC’s Documentum, Captiva and Document Sciences software. It also includes virtualization products and Vblocks, the cloud modules that the company created in collaboration with VMware and Cisco.

Capgemini is offering its expertise on top of this technology: the consultancy puts the different parts together to optimally suit the client, helps with deployment and takes care of other details that amount to a reduction of up to 30 percent in both costs and delivery time.

“We have packaged our strong sector expertise in content and case management and a global delivery network to provide a compelling business solution, competitive pricing and underpinned by proven technology, methods and tools,” says Charlie Li, Global Vice President for EMC at Capgemini.  “Our customers can switch to CaaS and start benefiting quickly with the knowledge that they can refine and adapt business process and workflows in a much more user-friendly and flexible manner.”

This is Capgemini’s second alliance with a major technology provider in the past two weeks.  Earlier the company teamed up with Vertica to offer a similar product for customers, in both the private and public sectors, that are considering a switch from legacy information infrastructure to big data analytics.

EMC also has a lot to gain from the partnership. It’s becoming more aggressive about its cloud services portfolio lately, and bundling it with a strong integrated offering is a very solid marketing approach.  Earlier this  week we learned that the company integrated its Syncplicity file sharing service with SlideShark, a popular PowerPoint app on iOS as well.
