Dell Global BYOD Survey Concludes: Embrade BYOD or Be Left Behind

Dell Quest Software’s global survey of IT executives finds that approximately 70% of corporate IT executives believe Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategies can improve their work processes. An estimated 59% believe they will be at a competitive disadvantage without BYOD. According to the survey of nearly 1,500 IT decision makers across the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, Singapore, India, and the Beijing area, organizations are optimistic about the potential corporate gains of BYOD. Microsoft Signs Mondernization Agreement With U.S. Forces

The U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and Defense Information Systems Agency have signed a three-year Joint Enterprise Licensing Agreement for enterprise licenses and software assurance with Microsoft Corp. The agreement is designed to allow them to modernize their technology infrastructure, reduce costs, and foster new levels of cross-agency collaboration. It provides the three organizations with a single vehicle for accessing the latest Microsoft technologies to support IT priorities, including datacenter consolidation, collaboration, cybersecurity, mobility, cloud computing, and big data. Scandinavian outdoor brand Helly Hansen, best known for apparel that combines design, protection, and style, has chosen Microsoft Office 365 as its communications and social platform. The global company, headquartered in Oslo, sells its products on five continents and operates 39 retail outlets in Europe and North America. It has moved to Office 365 combining e-mail, conferencing, and phone, replacing siloed, outdated systems. More

Global retailer Tesco has chosen Microsoft Office 365 for its companywide collaboration and social platform. The U.K.-based retailer is deploying Office 365 to its employees in corporate headquarters, in the field, and in its stores across Europe and Asia. Employees can use Office 365 search to find experts, information, and tools to work more effectively regardless of geographic location. More

Ernst and Young Sees Increased Strategic Divestment over 2013-’14 Due to Slow Economic Recovery

A new Ernst & Young survey concludes that increasing numbers of companies are refocusing on divestitures, with more than three-quarters of respondents intending to accelerate their divestment strategy in the next two years. This is a marked change from the past two years, when nearly 50% of divestments were driven by a need for a quick cash injection rather than strategic decisions. Six in ten of respondents to the 2012 Global Corporate Divestment Survey indicated that the main factor driving divestment is short-term financial issues such as whether an asset dilutes or enhances earnings per share. More
