Gartner Gives EMC Isilon Top Rating for Scale-Out System Storage

EMC Isilon is the only product to get the highest rating of “Outstanding” in Gartner’s new “Critical Capacities for Scale-Out File System Storage” report. Isilon was cited for providing capacity management, resiliency, and scalability, and for its rating in the designated use cases of commercial HPC, large home directories, and backup and archiving. The report evaluates nine vendors against nine critical capacities. More

Deloitte Consumer Spending Index Down in January

The Deloitte Consumer Spending Index, which tracks consumer cash flow as an indicator of future spending, declined for the third consecutive month in January. The decline is attributed primarily to slowing increases in new home prices says Patricia Buckley, director of economic policy and analysis at Deloitte LLP and Index author. She says that in the near term spending may remain constrained due to tax hikes and rising gasoline prices. More

28%+ of Companies Hacked in 2012 Says New Deloitte Survey

Twenty-eight percent of respondents to a new Deloitte survey say their organizations were victims of at lest one cyber attack in the past year. Nine percent reported multiple breaches, and an amazing 17 percent were not confident that their organizations could even detect an attack, according to a Deloitte Tech Trends pole of 1,749 business professionals. “It is no longer a discussion about if an organization will get hacked, but only a matter of when, and how quickly and effectively it will respond,” says Mark White, principal and chief technology officer at Deloitte Consulting LLP. Texas Adopts Office 365 for 100,000 State Employees

The Texas Department of Information Resources is moving more than 100,000 state employes to the Cloud with Microsoft Office 365 as part of a statewide IT modernization strategy. It will leverage Office 365 to streamline and improve the state’s communications and collaboration capabilities, making it the largest statewide deployment of e-mail and collaboration services in the United States. Office 365 has already been deployed across several state agencies. More

NetApp 3Q13 Results Meet Market Expectations

NetApp has reported revenues for 3Q13, ending January 25, of $1.630 billion, in line with prior guidance. Revenues for the same period a year ago totaled $1.566 billion. GAAP network income was $158 million or $0.43 per share compared to income of $120 million or $0.32 per share for 3Q12. More

 

Nvidia Reports 7.1 Percent Revenue Increase for FY 2013

Nvidia has reported a 7.1 percent revenue increase to $4.28 billion for its FY2013, ending January 27, and a 4Q13 revenue increase of 16.1 percent year-to-year but an 8.1 percent decrease from 3Q13. During the quarter, Nvidia repurchased $100 million of stock and paid a dividend of $0.075 per share, equivalent of $46.9 million. More
