New iPhone Rumors Can’t Carry Apple Anymore

Is the Apple + iPhone fandom wearing thin to anyone else but me? I was one of the biggest Apple fanboys ever, heck I still wouldn’t purchase a smartphone, tablet or computer from anyone but Apple. With that being said though, I find myself less interested with product announcements.  A company that was built on innovation has seemingly let the rest of the smartphone world catch up with the iPhone, and from what we know about Apple’s next iteration, the biggest point of differentiation is still the user interface.

The rumors are confirmed that we will see the next evolution of the iPhone on September 10, 2013.

Packaged with the rumor of the iPhone 5S is the rumor that Apple will be offering a dirt-cheap, by smartphone standards, iPhone. The low-cost smartphone will apparently have the same look as the original, except that the materials used will be of lower quality. This means we can probably discount aluminum and sapphire glass, and instead expect something made out of polycarbonate and possibly an older type of Gorilla Glass.

Here is a compilation of all of the next Apple + Apple iPhone rumors to be announced on September 10th:

The newest iPhone will be running iOS 7, and iOS 7 will trackyour every move.

Low-cost iPhone. The cheap iPhone rumors have been around since January, but are seemingly coming to fruition. Expect the iPhone mini aka cheap iPhone at the September 10th announcement.

Cool new features: larger-capacity battery, larger screen, a new dual-LED rear-camera flash, a 12MP camera, slow motion camera feature, a fingerprint scanner, offline dictation, a Retina+ Sharp IGZO display with 1080p Full HD resolution, and may also be equipped with LTE-A technology from SK Telecom.

iPhone Mini / iPhone Phablet. Whichever it is, mini or phablet, One will sport a 5.7-inch screen and the other will feature a 4.7-inch screen. Both will allegedly sport a metallic unibody or a glass body, much like the iPhone 5.

iPhone trade-in program. More streamlined than the non-Apple options, this will undoubtedly entice people in-store to upgrade.

There are a lot of cool speculations for the September 10th announcement, don’t get me wrong. But Apple wasn’t built on “cool”, Apple was built on “wow”.  Apple is losing its wow factor. Remember, this is coming from a still Apple-only fanboy. Apple still might make best-in-class products, but the user experience UX can only carry Apple so far. I’m asking you to wow me again Apple….and soon.
