Telerik Upgrades TeamPulse, Announces Advanced HTML 5 Support

Telerik’s Agile project management solution for building and analyzing cross-platform and mobile applications, TeamPulse, now has full support of an HTML5 interface. The application development, software testing, Agile project management, reporting, and content management provider announces the first ever HTML5 support.

The advanced HTML5 interface combined with powerful multi-project management functionality enables developers to quickly and easily perform daily activities such as tracking of project status and updating of project works. TeamPulse covers the entire application lifecycle using Scrum, Kanban, or another process including requirements management, project management, iteration planning and scheduling, project coordination and project analytics using agile and lean concepts and terminology.

TeamPulse provides time tracking module aimed at teams looking for a simple, frictionless way to record project time.  Users can log billable or non-billable time against tasks, user stories, and bugs or against generic tasks like meetings or support.  TeamPulse time tracking also comes with a public API that allows integration with other systems.

“The latest TeamPulse release further cements our commitment to making software development as easy as possible for organizations of all sizes,” said Christopher Eyhorn, executive vice president of ALM Tools at Telerik. “Our users want to minimize the overhead related to daily status monitoring and simplify project maintenance so they can improve release cycles and deliver greater software on time and on budget.  Telerik TeamPulse R2 delivers on those needs, with its simple, powerful and intuitive agile project management and collaboration capabilities for boosting team productivity and success.”

The new upgrade extends integration with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) to enable users to incorporate TFS check-ins directly with TeamPulse work items. In addition, users can also switch back-and-forth between the Boards, Backlog and Analytics Dashboards, amid single and multi-project mode.

Telerik is not concentrating only on the development of agile project management. The company runs Icenium, cross-platform mobile app development to build mobile apps, mobile websites and hybrid apps for any platform and any device without having to use specific proprietary SDKs or software packages. It also announced the availability of new tools for PHP and JSP developers, a release of Kendo UI, the availability of Web Content Management (WCM) lightweight web system Sitefinity and Version 2.0 of its Test Studio for iOS that combines mobile test automation and end-user feedback into a single product.

DevOps Angle by Kyt Dotson

I spoke with Telerik’s Christopher Eyhorn, EVP of ALM Tools, about the nature of TeamPulse and it’s effect on DevOps and as a tool it looks like a powerful project management suite.

TeamPulse enables management of multiple projects across an organization and even hooks into Agile development directly by showing methodology and giving insights into how the system is working. By being able to see all the cards on the Kaban board for that iOS app for devs; or as a manager being able to see everything in a holistic view for managers. This holistic view also breaks down into burn down charts and the ability to dashboard the entire project.

According to Eyhorn, the key capability of TeamPulse is the idea of adaptability.

When you have a tool, it’s better that you don’t need to adapt to use that tool; it’s best to adapt that tool to you. TeamPulse has a lot of custom fields for a lot of metadata ability to attach advanced sorting and customizations. On top of that, there’s also the concept of making the UI very specific–this enables the creation of custom views that give custom information.

As an individual developer I might care about what I’m currently working on, user needs, next task etc; as a manager, I want to see everything at a higher level, my devs, their projects, etc. TeamPulse enables a way to make custom dashboards to make you the best workers.

Making TeamPulse adapt to your project, and not the other way around.
