Springpad for iOS 7 : Top 4 New Features

Apple’s new iOS 7 brought a lot of frenzy to iDevice users.  It delivered a new look, new features and a few new apps.

Not many apps were ready for the iOS 7 update last week, as Apple only made the APIs available one day after the launch of the new iPhones.  Only a handful of apps were iOS 7-optimized when the platform was released for download on the 18th.  And one of these apps is Shadow Puppet, which greatly utilizes the iOS 7’s new camera app.

Another service that makes use several new iOS 7 capabilities is Springpad, an app that lets you save, organize, and share collected ideas and information found on the web.

Springpad’s Top 4 features for iOS 7 app

  • New look

Springpad now sports a simplified icon and new design that stretches the styles all the way to the status bar, so the gorgeous accent color you picked for a notebook will be more visible.  It now supports the iOS 7′s Dynamic Type sizing, which means the font size you’ve chosen for your device will apply to springs.

  • New Notes

You can now format springs on any device.  You can create bold, italics or underlined texts, as well as bulleted and numbered lists, and it now even supports hyperlinks.  You can access these editing options easily by just tapping on the spring.

When using the web version, you can have a clutter-free view by just clicking on the “Edit in full screen” option found on the Edit menu.  Pasting content from the web has been updated as well.  You can now choose to save text-only or with formatting.

For iOS and Android, you can now create a new note by long-pressing on “+”.

“With over 25 million Notes saved in Springpad, they are by far the most popular Spring you use. After all, they are the easiest way to jot down a quick thought or detailed memo on any device. And since you’re using them so much, we wanted to make sure that you’re getting the best experience possible. So, we made improvements to Notes on all of our apps making them easier to create and easier to edit no matter where you’re using them,” Springpad posted on its blog.

  • Syncing

Springpad knows that its users may be using different devices, depending on where they are.  So to keep things streamlined, Springpad periodically syncs springs on your iPhone, iPad or computer.  The new Springpad greatly utilizes the new multitasking feature as well.  Even when you’re not using the app, it syncs in the background so content is at the ready anytime, on any of your devices.

  • Save and share

The update also delivers more ways for users to save and share content.  If you find anything interesting that you either want to share directly or save to your Springpad account, you can do so in more ways.

You can share springs using AirDrop, and even if the recipient doesn’t have Springpad yet, when you share a spring, the recipient will be directed to the App Store where they can download the app for free.

And even if you’re using another app in viewing a file, you can now choose to view that file in Springpad and save it.  Anything saved on Springpad can also be accessed by other services you use, like Dropbox, or can be shared with others via email or Messages.

Springpad for developers

Developers will also be delighted with the new Springpad as Xcode, the app developers code in, now updated to be dramatically faster and more stable.  Many user interface widgets have been polished and modernized with a fresh look and feel. And most widgets include many new options for customization in terms of colors, patterns and sizing.

You can download the new Springpad for iOS 7 now and enjoy the new Springpad on the web.  For Android users, the new Notes features will be rolling out this week.
