Tintri Snags Former Wind River President to Accelerate Growth

Tintri, a Mountain View-based startup that provides hybrid storage arrays for virtualized environments, has appointed Ken Klein as chairman and CEO. The executive is stepping into the shoes of founder Kieran Harty, who has assumed the role CTO to play a more active role in shaping his company’s product strategy.

An industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in senior management positions within tech companies, Klein joins Tintri from Wind River Systems, where he was responsible for more than 1,800 employees in about 20 countries. As president, he helped the middleware firm double revenues and led it through its acquisition by Intel in 2009. Prior to his stint at Wind River, Klein Ken served as chief operating officer and board member of Mercury Interactive for 12 years. He is credited with transforming the software vendor from a pre-revenue startup into a leader in the IT management market with sales approaching $1 billion annually.

“I’m thrilled to join Tintri at such a pinnacle point in the company’s growth,” commented Klein. “The company has a strong and smart team, innovative technology and an energized customer base. I’m confident that my track record of expanding customer and partner initiatives and growing revenue will help propel the company into its next phase of growth and success.”

The appointment of Klein as CEO comes a week after Tintri introduced new storage solutions to make it easier for companies to scale their infrastructure. The T620 can run up to 500 virtual machines and support midsize Microsoft deployments and virtual desktop environments, while the T650 can accommodate as many as 2000 VMs in 4U of space. The latter array is designed to power Tier 1 applications and other enterprise workloads.
