John McAfee on his presidency trail: A chance for greatness

For much of my career, I have focused on blazing a path and pursing greatness. This is a big reason why people start companies. Over the years, I have launched, bought, and sold companies that were out there to make a difference – in several different fields. That is not unlike the stories of many people and companies from throughout American history.

Technology itself has become increasingly complex, yet through it all, it is something that is exceptionally human. It is an expression of ambition, of hard work, and our vision for the world. Technology is also the scene for peril, as we have seen time and time again.

The choices we make now will echo into the future. We are fortunate to have a much needed chance to recapture greatness. This opportunity is ephemeral. The question is: is it possible to alter the course of a country that has lost its way?

Thus far, our government has obfuscated and has neglected the true purpose of why we build these things.
Everybody builds things to help people, to get things to others, and for many, the purpose is to make a living. We build networks, we build and analyze information, we build products that help us do things in all walks of life. It’s not just computer technology either. It includes building bridges, roads, automobiles, homes, and the list goes on. That is America.

A government lost

The intersection of technology and government has been an especially abysmal failure.
Unfortunately, our government has taken these opportunities and the products of our work as opportunties to grow themselves and dictate all things about our lives. Precious tools have been used to monitor the country’s own citizens as though they were the enemy. The government has been woefully behind the pack when it comes to security itself and left us open to grave consequences. We have lost precious secrets about our government, our people, and our industries. They have shown ineptitude in rolling out critically important websites. Foreign governments and those with malicious intent have repeatedly raided information that can hurt us in unimaginable ways. There are many such examples and like it or not, this affects all of us. We cannot afford continued failures on this one front alone.

It is clear that our government is completely dysfunctional. We hear so much about change and prudence, yet we constantly get more of the same. Our debt is unimaginable, and we have laid that debt on the next generations to come, while it gets worse each year. The politicians that dictate law and control over all have no idea how to build a program or do much of anything without missing deadlines, running over costs, and failing throughout. In the meantime, the system we are so attached to benefits very few, and the common man continues to struggle, picking up the costs in terms of freedom, burden, and a loss of security.

I am here to change that. As you may know, I am running for President of the United States.

This country was formed with the mission of a government that was for the people, by the people. Instead, we are presented with a ruling political class that dictates every element of our lives. We have strayed too far from the original plan. I believe the country can do better, and you should too.

The way forward

COynvwhUEAAJGEMWe are simultaneously faced with challenges and opportunities. It starts with the recognition of the sovereign nature of each citizen as a free people. Freedom is not an option, it is a necessity.

We can recapture the spirit of human and American exceptionalism that once led the way. We need a government that utilizes the power of information, of this data opportunity to become more efficient, to extrapolate information and come up with better solutions for the problems we face today. Through the power of innovation, we can lead again. That means embracing innovation in policies across the board, in social policy, in terms of freedom, in how we engage with and interact with the world.

I can guarantee you that a John McAfee presidency will not be conventional. If we seize it, we can set the roots or our growth as a country. Innovation is key and with this critical principle, we can create a better and more accessible government. I urge you to join me, and find out more about the party.
