Watch live from Informatica World 2017

What does data management mean in the context of Informatica’s re-branding efforts? A new tagline claims Informatica LLC to be the “enterprise cloud data management leader,” clearly targeting Chief Information Officers and data as a corporate asset. Looking to learn more details on how the platform integration provider will address the next generation of data challenges, SiliconANGLE will once again be at Informatica World 2017, currently underway in San Francisco, California, with live, exclusive commentary and interviews from our roving news desk, theCUBE.

The Integration Platform as a Service Market is set to reach $2.9 billion by 2021 at a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 41.5 percent between 2016 and 2021, according to a recent report from Research and Markets Ltd. Currently heading up the iPaaS market for the third consecutive year is Informatica, according to Gartner Inc. The company accounts for 19 percent of the $688 million 2016 global iPaaS market, six percentage points ahead of its nearest competitor.

Earlier this year, Informatica announced the industry’s first intelligent data lake, a repository for raw data, that’s made specifically for healthcare. “In the face of healthcare’s insatiable appetite for data, traditional data warehousing is not enough in the race to business and clinical insights,” said Richard Cramer, chief healthcare strategist at Informatica. “Healthcare organizations now need rapid and agile big data access, high-value discovery analytics and cost-effective scalability afforded by well managed and governed data lakes.”

Last month, Informatica announced its Cloud Data Lake Management solution for managing data lakes in either cloud or on-premise environments. The Cloud Data Management solution will be available by the end of Q2 2017.

Informatica and Zoomdata Inc. announced this week a collaboration with an unnamed European beer maker, which the companies will pitch at the event this week. The software will be able to monitor temperature, the pressure of the beer in the tap and number of pints poured in real time. It uses Informatica’s Intelligent Streaming software, which collects and transmits real-time data from various sensors or other devices and Zoomdata’s visualization tools.

Keynote speakers at the event include Informatica executives Anil Chakravarthy, chief executive officer; Amit Walia, chief product officer; and Sally Jenkins, chief marketing officer. Other keynote speakers at Informatica World include Michael Lewis, author; Kara Swisher, technology journalist and co-founder of Recode; and Sanjeev Vohra, global technology officer at Accenture PLC.
