Trend Micro announces Deep Security support for VMware Cloud on AWS

Trend Micro Inc. is adding its backing to VMware Inc.’s announcement of general availability for VMware Cloud on AWS by announcing that its Deep Security service will support the newly available platform.

The service, previously available to Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services customers, provides seamless visibility and security for virtualized workloads across VMware’s software-defined data center, whether on-premises or in the VMware Cloud on AWS, according to Trend Micro. The tool addresses both regulatory and security considerations to deliver what the company claims is security tool consolidation and streamlined regulatory compliance with a single security product.

With Deep Security, enterprise users can leverage multiple security techniques and deep integration with VMware and AWS to allow workloads to be automatically secured as they are launched. That includes vulnerability scanning and policy application for protection from malware and ransomware such as the widely publicized WannaCry.

“Trend Micro’s long history of innovation by leveraging VMware and AWS makes us well-suited to provide security for our mutual customers’ data center and cloud workloads,” Steve Quane, executive vice president of network defense and hybrid cloud security for Trend Micro said in a statement. “We strive to provide exemplary protection for virtualized and cloud environments, which customers have come to depend on.”

Trend Micro’s announcement topped off a busy day at the annual VMworld conference in Las Vegas (pictured), including Dell Technologies Inc.’s Dell EMC subsidiary announcing that it is refreshing its hyperconverged infrastructure lineup with an aim to support VMware customers.
