Accelerite eases hybrid cloud management with Rovius Cloud

Cloud infrastructure company Accelerite is getting into the hybrid cloud management game with the launch of its new Rovius Cloud platform.

Rovius Cloud is a new product geared toward enterprises that’s designed to simplify the deployment of on-premises and public cloud-based compute, storage and networking resources. It also helps companies to federate on-premises resources with those of public clouds such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform, so the combined resources can be managed more easily.

Accelerite said the big advantage of Rovius Cloud is that it is agnostic in terms of servers, storage and hypervisors or virtual-machine monitors, meaning it can be deployed on everything from traditional blade servers to commodity hardware and hyperconverged infrastructure. At the heart of the new platform is Accelerite’s Ops Manager software, which handles tasks such as resource discovery, integrated deep infrastructure monitoring, log analytics, performance monitoring and capacity planning – all of which are essential aspects of maintaining a hybrid cloud deployment.

Accelerite said those features are necessary because many enterprises have found that the productivity enhancements and economic benefits of the hybrid cloud are often offset by the complexity of deploying and managing them.

“The productivity enhancements and economic efficiencies promised by hybrid cloud deployments are offset by the deployment and management complexity introduced by many of the available solution sets,” said Roy Illsley, Principal Analyst, Ovum. “Solutions such as Rovius Cloud that integrate private and public cloud provisioning, monitoring and management and allow users to select their own server, storage, networking and hypervisor solutions eliminate many of the barriers to success.”

Accelerite said the Rovius Cloud, which is based technology it acquired from Citrix Systems Inc. in 2016, builds upon its Accelerite CloudPlatform, which combines cloud resource orchestration tools with compute, storage and network management software. Rovius Cloud provides users with extra features, including automated public cloud federation and workload detection, the company said.

“We developed Rovius Cloud specifically to address the pain we saw enterprises experiencing when trying to deploy and manage hybrid clouds at scale,” said Rajesh Ramchandani, general manager of cloud services and platforms for Accelerite.

Ramchandani added that Rovius Cloud is specifically aimed at enterprises looking to manage heterogeneous multihypervisor environments that leverage investments in existing storage, networking and hardware investments, and want to avoid vendor lock-in with solutions such as Nutanix Inc.’s. “With Rovius Cloud, users get the scalability, monitoring and management functionality they need with the flexibility and simplicity they have been missing,” he said.

Accelerite said the Rovius Cloud is available now on Amazon Web Services. The platform will also launch on Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform in the fourth quarter of this year.
