Oracle NetSuite strengthens SuiteSuccess with vertically and globally focused enhancements

Oracle NetSuite is following the mantra of strength in numbers. The company that was one of the earliest players in cloud computing back in 1998 announced 14 new editions of its SuiteSuccess industry cloud solutions and 20 enhancements for its core application technology on Tuesday. And that’s on top of additional capabilities released for its SuiteAnalytics data exploration tool.

The announcements were directed at helping customers deal with the need to overcome barriers to growth in the fast-moving digital economy.

“The biggest conversation is customers talking with each other about how to grow and scale their business,” said Jason Maynard (pictured, left), senior vice president of marketing and strategy at Oracle NetSuite. “What we delivered today is the ability to have a packaged, out-of-the-cloud, easier-to-use on-ramp to get the value out of NetSuite.”

Maynard spoke with John Furrier (@furrier), host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE’s mobile livestreaming studio, at SiliconANGLE’s studio in Palo Alto, California. He was joined by Jim McGeever (pictured, right), executive vice president at Oracle NetSuite, and they discussed the new cloud-based enhancements, the company’s vertical focus, additional analytics capabilities, and meeting customer needs on a global basis.

Deep vertical orientation

The new editions of SuiteSuccess include a range of cloud-based solutions designed for micro-verticals in industry sectors such as manufacturing, food and beverage, publishing, and technology services. “We go deep by vertical,” McGeever said. “We’re looking at very specific use cases within that application that customers can use right now.”

Major enhancements to NetSuite’s core application include industry-specific capabilities with new functionality for the human resources and financial arenas. These include an HR offering natively built on the cloud suite and enhanced solutions for cash asset management.

The announcements add a new chapter to the evolving relationship between NetSuite and its acquiring parent Oracle since the deal was announced in 2016. The unifying factor has been a fervent belief in the future of cloud.

“They truly believe at their core that everything is moving to the cloud,” McGeever said.

SuiteAnalytics unveiled

In addition to the new enhancements and functionality, Oracle NetSuite also unveiled an artificial intelligence tool — SuiteAnalytics — for customers, designed to gain real-time insight into business data. The new analytics offering was built in-house.

“We didn’t acquire some random startup and try to plug and graft that onto NetSuite,” Maynard said.

Surrounding the Oracle NetSuite announcements this week is a clear focus on providing localized product capabilities in economic regions around the world. This has become an area of increased interest to customers as data privacy and information residency requirements become more complicated.

“If you want to go to Germany, you will literally flip a switch inside the system and you have a German-enabled application,” McGeever said. “In 2018, we’ve really turned the development ship to build out deep localizations for most of the major economies around the world.”
