CloudPassage debuts new security and compliance features for cloud infrastructure

Cloud infrastructure security company CloudPassage Inc. is updating its flagship Halo platform, which provides security controls across data centers, private and public clouds and virtual machines.

The company said it’s making available a new service called Project Cielo in beta. The idea is to provide more visibility and insights into resources in use across all cloud service providers’ accounts and services via a single interface.

CloudPassage’s Halo platform already boasts two services, namely Container Secure and Server Secure, that protect assets such as cloud instances, software containers and servers across a range of environments. Project Cielo extends this protection to cloud-based compute and storage infrastructure services, which means it can safeguard application components anywhere, no matter what delivery model is used, the company said.

Project Cielo works by continuously monitoring said infrastructure services to ensure they adhere to security policies. It also provides “contextual intelligence” about the assets it monitors to provide a technical risk analysis for each service, and finally it can identify those applications which are most at risk from a breach, so users can quickly take action to mitigate.

“The launch of Project Cielo demonstrates our dedication to building out a complete tech stack for customers,” Siri Oaklander, advanced technologies principal at CloudPassage, said in a statement. “Project Cielo offers a competitive feature set for public cloud infrastructure services, so now, for example, offerings like Amazon Services can receive comprehensive coverage, not just coverage for EC2.”

CloudPassage said Project Cielo is available in beta today for its Halo Platform customers.
