CLOUD

Intel, Presidio, Cisco tackling cloud solutions through teamwork

The question may no longer be, “Is cloud worth it?” for modern day businesses. The question may now be, “What kind of cloud is right?” And as technology providers wrestle with how to deliver the best solutions, sometimes collaboration is key.

“It used to be that it was a ‘cloud-first strategy,'” said Vinu Thomas (pictured, right), chief technology officer at Presidio Inc., a provider of digital transformation solutions. “And now I would kind of call if as a ‘cloud-right strategy’ — which is, ‘Let me choose the right cloud for the right type of workload.'”

Thomas and Brad Haczynski (pictured, left), managing director of the Cisco global account team at Intel, spoke with Stu Miniman (@stu), co-host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, during the Cisco Live event in Orlando, Florida. They discussed the evolution of cloud and the ways they’re partnering to offer better solutions moving forward. (* Disclosure below.)

Working together for cloud solutions

As companies begin to figure out what the right kind of cloud they need, that’s why collaboration is important — to figure out what customers need, according to Thomas. “We can evaluate all those workloads and applications and your use cases like your data center, and then recommend to you — in partnership with Cisco and Intel — what is the right placement for your workload.”

It’s all about cloud’s economics, because the scale and capability of large public cloud services has caused customers to pause in their cloud pursuits, Haczynski elaborated. “I think what customers are really looking for is, ‘How do I deploy applications, the scalability with ease of deployment, while having policy round security, networking, compute storage, etc.?'”

Intel is working very closely with Cisco Systems Inc. and Presidio to make sure customer needs are satisfied. “It’s just a great triangulation,” Haczynski said. “We’re all in the same boat rowing in the same direction.”
