BIG DATA

CData raises $350M in growth capital to enhance data connectivity solutions

Data access and connectivity solutions company CData Software Inc. today announced that it has raised about $350 million in growth capital to accelerate its investments in building innovative data integration solutions for customers.

Founded in 2016, CData offers data integration solutions for real-time access to online on on-premises applications, databases and web application programming interfaces. The company’s self-service data products and connectivity solutions provide universal access to live data from hundreds of popular on-premises and cloud applications.

CData argues that as companies are processing and sharing more data than ever across different sources, bridging these data silos has become increasingly complex and requires different integration methods to meet organizations’ unique needs. CData allows its customers to leverage both live data access and replicated data movement within one common connectivity platform, with an aim to provide organizations with a solid foundation to support and scale their artificial intelligence and machine learning strategies.

The CData Connectivity Platform offers a bimodal integration stack to connect replicated and live data, providing real-time data access across enterprise apps and hybrid infrastructures. Features such as data virtualization offer unified views of structure and unstructured data sources while providing enterprise government and security.

The platform provides access to data through established data standards and application platforms such as Open Database Connectivity, Java Database Connectivity, ActiveX Data Objects .NET, Open Data Protocol, SQL Server Integration Services, Business Talk and Microsoft Corp.’s Excel.

The company says customers rely on CData to enable advanced analytics, boost cloud adoption and create a more connected business. Notably, CData customers include Salesforce Inc., Office Depot, Holiday Inn and FedEx Corp., and companies including Google LLC and Informatica Inc. have also embedded CData technology into their platforms.

Warburg Pincus LLC led the growth capital round, with Accel Management Co. Ltd. also participating. Updata Partners LP, the sole investor in CData’s previous rounds, including its Series B in 2021, remains a significant investor.

“CData is a great fit within our portfolio as a market-leading provider of mission-critical data connectivity solutions, allowing organizations to connect, integrate and manage data from various sources across on-premises and cloud environments,” said Cary Davis, managing director at Warburg Pincus. “We believe that our investment will bring CData into its next phase of growth and support the company’s mission to simplify access to data.”

Including the new growth capital raise, CData has raised $510 million to date, according to data from Tracxn.
