Motorola iPad Competitor Coming Soon

It seems in the wake of Motorola trying to ‘upgrade’ their image they will be coming out with an iPad this fall.  (Motorola may want to re-think this as this is about the same time Apple will launch iPad 2.0)  It will be a 16" x 9" (wide screen format) pad that will run the Google Android OS and be linked to the Android Market place.  Additionally, Motorola is working with Verizon as it’s 3G carrier for the platform.  Early remarks from testers are that it is a very user friendly platform and work nicely.

This will be very interesting.  It will be very hard to compete with Apple and the iPad – however the more of my colleagues I talk to, the more they are hating their iPhone – not due to the product, but due to the network they are on.  AT&T can say what they want, I drop more calls with my colleagues on iPhones and AT&T than I do with my colleagues on the good old ‘Crackberry’ and Verizon.  The question is will the device be ‘cool’ enough, will the Android Market have the tools people want and will the platform being on Verizon really make a difference to put kick back in Motorola’s step?

Time will tell.
