Google Retaliates Oracle’s “Legally Deficient” Lawsuit, Wants it Thrown Out

In a document response to Oracle‘s claim that Android OS is violating Java-related copyrights and patents, which Oracle has garnered earlier this year as part of the Sun Microsystems acquisition, Google denied all seven charges and is asking the court to dismiss the case for being “legally deficient,” and even called Oracle a hypocrite.

Previously, Oracle has been championing for a fully open Java Platform when the OS was still owned by Sun. Things have changed since the Oracle acquisition, and as Oracle looks towards its own gains in market share, it will do whatever it takes to turn the playing field for its advantage.

“It’s disappointing that after years of supporting open source, Oracle turned around to attack not just Android, but the entire open source Java community with vague software patent claims,” Google said. “Open platforms like Android are essential to innovation, and we will continue to support the open source community to make the mobile experience better for consumers and developers alike.”

Motorola is also facing a similar patent-infringement lawsuit from Microsoft.
