LimeWire Found Liable, Site Shut Down

After a four-year litigation, LimeWire was found guilty for the infringement of a umpteen quantity of copyright products.  As reported by Gawker, the file sharing service managed by LimeWire was shut down after Judge Kimba Wood restricted the company from downloading and uploading media files.

Whether some might be concerned about the fact that LimeWire’s decreased popularity is not insecure, statistics show that there are 50 million visitors each month that counterfeit the copyright policy via peer-to-peer file sharing.

It’s quite a blow to the torrent battle.  Rules have varied from region to region, their legitimacy has been argued on multiple planes.  It’s only been a few weeks since the FTC stepped back from a pending investigation on Limewire.  Shutting the site down in its entirety is the end of an era, and an ill-fated one at that.
