Aside from promoting Simon Biddiscombe as chief executive, QLogic also appoints a new general manager, Stanley Liu, to increase sales of OEM and QLogic-branded products in Greater China, known as the second-largest economy in the world.
“With the second largest economy in the world, China provides promising opportunities for established technology companies like QLogic. The company’s market-leading networking technologies are highly appealing to Chinese customers and technology partners,” said Liu. “We have built up strong synergies with some of China’s leading IT vendors and are dedicated to providing quick response times and quality services to global OEMs, Chinese OEMs and Chinese Channel Partners.”
Liu brings in 25 years of experience, 19 years of which spent on storage solutions as he previously held significant positions at IBM and Sun Microsystems. He will report to VP of Sales in Asia Pacific and Japan, Martin Darling.
“Stanley Liu will strengthen our competitive advantages and company positioning in the Greater China market,” said Darling. “Stanley’s track record and proven skills in marketing and selling IT solutions will enable us to engage with a greater number of local channel and technology partners more effectively and efficiently.”
Global expansion is something a number of industry players are interested in right now-the race for everything from PC sales to SaaS products is finding its way to China in particular. We’re seeing several partnerships from cloud-computing services front-running this cross-market penetration, and witnessing some parallel growth patterns from industries like retail; eCommerce especially.
In addition to the promotion and hiring, Qlogic today launched a new product that has set a new world record for non-coalescent message rate performance. The 7300 Series QDR InfiniBand host channel adapters beats former record holder 7300 Series QDR host channel adapter running on Intel’s Xeon 5600, by a surge of 7.8 time improvement.
