Evernote’s Big Elephant Brain Has 5M People In It

Digital services for consumers are growing quickly, judging by the successful growth of Evernote, the software service designed to take notes and archive documents, web pages, voice memos or photos.  Evernote states on their blog:

Twenty two thousand one hundred and thirty new people joined Evernote yesterday. Seriously. 22,130. That’s a record and it pushed us over the 5,000,000 user mark!

We’re actually setting all kinds of records in the past few weeks:

  • Highest daily revenue from Evernote Premium subscriptions
  • Most single-day Windows users ever (thanks to our recent Evernote 4.0 for Windows update)
  • Most single-day Android users ever (thanks to the awesome, new Evernote 2.0 for Android)
  • Most single-day BlackBerry users ever (ditto)

“Don’t worry: we have great Mac and iPhone / iPad updates coming soon! It only took us 83 days to get the latest million users – that’s over 12,000 new people per day, every day.”

Evernote has introduced Evernote 2.0, a very expected update following the rapid growth of the Android platform. The new version features, among the classical options of note taking, picture snapping and audio recording, an improved aesthetic of the home screen, accessible search tabs on every page, new note organization options, visual swipe browsing plus a better compatibility with the Android platform, the latter emphasizing their relevance in the mobile space; Evernote is also available on all major platforms, noting its recent Windows Phone 7 app.

Last month, Evernote managed to raise $20 million with the help of Sequoia Capital, the new investor, the money being used to expand its services beyond the consumer market as 80% of the users utilize the product on a personal and on a business purpose as well.

The funding enables Evernote to grow so rapidly and more integration features are expected from them, such as the Series C round, in conditions of the smartphone revolution.
