Juniper Networks Adds Security to SRX1400 Series for SMBs

Juniper Networks announced that the SRX1400, its newest SRX product, is now available to secure small to mid-sizes enterprise, including service provider- and mobile operator data center environments.

“Not only does the SRX1400 help companies migrate their mid-size data centers to 10 Gbps, but it also helps them reduce costs in the process,” said Doug Murray, senior vice president and general manager, High-end Security Systems Business Unit at Juniper. “The SRX1400 consolidates multiple security functions, including our new AppSecure application security capabilities, on a single services gateway, providing the flexibility to scale bandwidth and services in the future.”

The SRX1400 is a consolidated security services gateway that protects networks against attacks and unauthorized access on critical infrastructure. This includes protection of your internet connection on the Gi interface, roaming exchanges and signaling networks, as it is made for mobile networks and applications as well.

It’s interesting and important to see Juniper Networks layering in this level of security within its SMB offerings, particularly as the company extends into the mobile sector with network and app security as a service clients can extend to their products.  It simplifies management and configuration with an integrated, single security policy and device management system for multiple security services.

The SRX1400 has a 1 and 10 GBE port density and can be expanded as needed. Integrated within the Junos operating system, it comes with services including inspection of IPv4, IPv6, Streams Control Transmission Protocol, IPsec VPN, SSL decryption, IP and GTP hardware assisted Quality of Service, dynamic and virtual routing, AppSecure, Network Address Translation and application level gateways for IPv4 and v6, SCTP and GTP protocols.

For Juniper Networks, expanding security offerings in its SRX1400 lineup is a strategic move in retaining customer loyalty in the SMB sector, which is a demographic several cloud services and competitors are after.  Incorporating security services at this level is another way in which Juniper is constantly addressing the needs of businesses, and the enterprise.  Some of its other recent product releases and updates include Microsoft-ready unified communications, and the core router T4000 series.
