FalconStor Interim CEO Jim McNiel on the Past, Future
Interim FalconStor CEO Jim McNiel replacing ReiJane Huai sat down for an interview yesterday, in which he discussed several things, including his vision for the company. The former CEO made improper payments to a “…bigger than a small business” company customer, and he certainly left McNiel with a long road ahead of him.
“[Q:]But they’re the last big company without their own. Tell me a little more about BlueStone? [A:] So BlueStone is the first product of its kind to deliver service-oriented data protection…[Q:] Available in? [A:] Q2 of 2011…”
BlueStone, aimed to deliver customers a pioneering and all-inclusive service protection set, is just one aspect of McNiel’s vision for FalconStor. Getting into the hardware market was also brought up in the interview. Nonetheless, the company’s current stability was also mentioned. As SiliconANGLE covered here, FalconStor’s $26.4M loss in Q3 had some very negative effects. Additionally, former CEO Huai’s doings will probably result one or more inclusive lawsuits against the company, as the current U.S authorities’ investigation may reveal even more details.
Despite 5 consecutive not very profitable quarters, FalconStor is looking for a brighter future, as SiliconANGLE covered how they strengthened their partnering strategy and signed a services and reseller agreement with HP. Additionally, FalconStor is expanding its global operations with a new VP, Brendan Kinkade, who brings 15 years of experience to the company.
