Qlogic has reached benchmark performance with IBM iDataPlex servers, which were running Qlogic 7300 Series InfiniBand host adapters and Intel processors. The application in charge was ANSYS FLUENT 12.1 –  a leading provider of fluid dynamics software.

IBM project executive Connie Borton appreciates the benchmarking results as being a confirmation of the energy-efficiency, superior performance and integrated solutions:

Moreover, it is interesting to see the unification of forces from the leading giants in the industry:  IBM, Intel and QLogic – all of them bringing their best added value solutions.  The performed test states that TrueScale’s single-rail performance is more than four percent faster in comparison with the dual-rail implementations, using only half of the InfiniBand equipment.  Director of Global Alliances and Solution Marketing QLogic, Joseph Yaworski comments upon the performance:

QLogic has a rich portfolio of comprehensive, end-to-end solutions for InfiniBand networks. It delivers the highest message rate in the industry. The improvements are not a novelty for QLogic’s strategy. Recently, they announced the collaboration with Avaya – in order to catch up with the converged switch on a chip entitles “Bullet”. QLogic Bullet is intended to coverage the switch-on-a-chip networking, penetrating markets such as FCoE switching technology.

QLogic has also developed a new strategy targeting China sales – with OEM and QLogic branded products. This stemmed from the hiring of QLogic’s new general manager, Stanley Liu.  This is all pushing the development of low-latency solutions in the virtual architecture market, which is being consolidated around InfiniBand products.  Mellanox’s long-standing partnership with Voltaire has led to an acquisition.
