Windows Phone 7 Sales Update during Dive into Mobile Conference

During the D: Dive Into Mobile event, Microsoft Vice President Joe Belfiore admitted that Windows Phone 7 sales, in just one month after its launch on the U.S. market, leave the company’s officials “feeling pretty good.”  Although still refraining from giving exact numbers, the Microsoft assignees said that the company is content with the sales figures, which are significant in terms of shifting from Windows Mobile concept to the new Windows Phone brand.

Microsoft maintains the intrigue, although it did not have the same lack of transparency with Kinect. Microsoft explained that the Windows Phones are good, and the company is not keen on quantifying the result, but the effect, which was positive despite the troubles regarding the CDMA networks support.

Also, during Belfiore’s discourse, it was announced the new software update, expected for the beginning of 2011. This software improvement is intended to solve the network issue and to add the emblematic copy + paste option on Windows Mobile.

In order to empower the Windows Phone 7 performance, Microsoft is seeking for 40 members of a new team which will deal with software and hardware and equally important – design and public relations. With this move, Microsoft is clearly stating that it is doing its best to be a competitive player on the smartphone market, along iPhone and Android.

In Kit Dotson’s coverage of Windows Phone 7 place reported to Android, it is shown the virulent reaction of Google’s representative Andy Rubin towards Microsoft’s product. During the same conference focusing on mobile, which took place yesterday, Andy Rubin presented his view over the competitive product, classifying it as a “good 1.0 product. There’s some stuff that’s 20 years old in Windows Phone 7”.

Belfiore’s defensive reaction was to contra argue, by putting emphasis the still available code that Windows uses, which is not overcame by the mobile and internet drive. On the other hand, it is questionable why Google minded with this remark, knowing the fact that Android and iPhone are leading the market and Windows Phone 7 is not yet a threat.
