Albireo’s Top Notch Performance Grounds Permabit in Data Optimization

Albireo of Permabit Technology Corporation has clinched the top spot in both performance and ROI in the recently concluded Capacity Optimization ratio Effectiveness or CORE conducted by Wikibon. The global leader in data optimized storage has performed at 77 GB/sec, breaking an industry record while using 64 KB data blocks, hardware-based SHA-256 hashing in a 16 node grid configuration.

In a statement released following this feat of Permanit Albireo, Wikibon co-founder Dave Vellante relates how Permabit met and exceeded the defined targets. “Interest among Wikibon users for primary storage optimization is exploding. To maximize ROI across the application portfolio, our belief is that primary optimization technologies should be embedded, have minimal application performance impacts and apply to both file and block storage. Permabit’s Albireo technology meets these criteria and has set a new bar for ROI. In our view it has the potential to redefine the landscape for primary storage optimization. ”

The winning team led by Jered Floyd, Chief Technology Officer of Permabit has also expressed their fulfillment, sharing a few details as to how they surpassed Wikibon’s standards when it comes to data optimization solutions. “Wikibon’s findings show how Albireo High Performance Data Optimization software delivers orders of magnitude higher performance and efficiency when compared to first generation data optimization solutions. These characteristics, combined with Albireo’s ability to scale upward, are crucial for giving our OEMs the competitive edge in this industry.”

Albireo was named as the winner of all other technologies that underwent the same tests. In fact, it is the first in the industry and the only organization certified as OEM embedded data optimization solution delivering real-time primary data deduplication. This updated version of Albireo with the new GX technology was further explained in an article posted in SiliconAngle recently. This innovation will bring forth hardware and software storage OEMs that bear improved margins and competitive positions. This deduplication offerings also reached another organization Blue Arc. The embedded Alibreo in BlueArc will serve functions on major areas like scalability, high performance, VMware optimized and data safety.

Wikibon CORE analysis evaluates seven critical points before determining the score of a particular software being tested. These seven segments include: storage, capacity, percent capacity reduction, cost of solution, cost of latency, value of capacity reduced, workload IOs/second and optimization overhead seconds/IO.
