eBay, Enforced by Critical Path, Heading to Mobile Buyers Who Break Selling Records

Critical Path software firm was acquired by eBay today, following the plan of the auction and shopping engine to develop a wider mobile application presence. StubHub was a precedent in terms of eBay’s development for iPhone, integrated by eBay in its drive for attracting the mobile users.

Although the figures and conditions of the transaction were not made public, speculations reign high, considering the growth of the selling levels during this period of the year. A nice peak for eBay sales had been reached on Sunday, when transactions amounting to $5 million were done in a single day using mobile devices.

eBay has been in the spotlight for other business developments too, such as the Milo deal, which was approximated at $75 million. The Milo application designed for the iPhone and other mobile devices is is meant to track the inventory databases of local stores, and to use the database’s information for smart shopping.

It is obvious eBay’s interest for the mobile sector; moreover they have been developing platforms for improving the customer retention and attracting new mobile users. Analysts consider that the eBay’s acquisition will really ramp things up for local mobile search and purchases.
