Amazon Launches Bulk Email Services
Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES) is the new service from Amazon Web Services, looking to simplify the whole procedure around building an in-house email solution and operating a third-party email service. The service can be used by business on a free trial (valid for Amazon EC2 customers) and afterwards pay moderate sums for the number of emails sent and data transfer.
The savings are considerable if we put down all marketing and transactional messages costs borne by businesses. They spend vast amounts of money on email server management and network configuration so as to increase the percentage of emails that are successfully delivered, in addition to third-party fees given out on contract and with price negotiations. Amazon Simple Email Service addresses all these issues at lower costs ($0.10 per thousand email messages sent), and helps businesses improve the quality of email communications with their customers.
“Essentially Amazon’s offering businesses the chance to have a bulk email service that promises a higher percentage of successful deliveries without “hassles such as email server management, network configuration, and without having to negotiate with your ISP to meet ‘rigorous’ standards for email content,” FastCompany notes. This service is of great news for middle-sized businesses and young enterprises will make the most out of it.
As mentioned a few weeks ago, Amazon has funded, along with other investors, Sonian, the email archive provider, thus showing an interest in email archive solutions. “By leveraging Amazon Web Services, Sonian is avoiding capital expenditure and focusing resources on product innovations and improving their time to market with those innovations,” said Jeff Blackburn, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Amazon. “We’re pleased to work with Sonian to offer customers of all sizes an information archiving solution that is affordable, scalable and highly reliable.”
