VMware’s Jump Start to the Private Cloud
In order to speed up adoption to the hybrid cloud, VMware has launched the vCloud Accelerator and vCloud Jumpstart, two new additions under its vCloud consulting services, and vCloud Reference Architecture. These new add-ons highlight VMWare’s expertise in dealing with enterprises and service providers as they deploy VMware vCloud environments.
“Our partnership with the VMware consulting team and deployment of vCloud Consulting Services has been essential to our successful deployment of cloud computing,” said Alan Russell, vice president, Global Infrastructure Systems, Experian. “Their deep expertise in virtualization and cloud technologies helped us significantly accelerate the design and build of our internal private cloud solution.”
The vCloud Accelerator allows customers to quickly experience the benefits of a VMware vCloud environment that runs actual customer applications by setting up an operational VMware vCloud environment in just less than 30 days. Under vCloud solution are VMware vSphere, VMware vCloud Director, VMware vCenter Chargeback andVMware vShield. VMware vCloud Jumpstart, on the other hand, provides faster knowledge transfer and allows customers to experience first hand the evaluation of non-production installation made in a VMware environment with VMware experts guiding them.
“The VMware consulting team had our vCloud Director-based private cloud up and running within days, and their expertise helped increase our understanding about this new model of computing,” said Glenn Harper, chief infrastructure architect, Sabre Holdings.
“Moving from highly virtualized to private cloud is an evolutionary change with revolutionary implications. We could immediately see great process and financial benefits, but to fully realize them we have to rethink how we do things. The VMware team helped us identify the various technical and organizational considerations involved in the shift — they made the cloud real for Sabre.”
While VMware vCloud Accelerator and vCloud Jumpstart provides knowledge, the vCloud Reference Architecture acts as the “blueprint” to the construction of the cloud. It is based on VMware’s open architecture approach as it also provides explanation of architectural elements, component details and examples of working VMware vCloud deployments. It significantly cuts off time spend on research, plan and deployment of the cloud-based environment.
The private cloud has a broad opportunity for consulting services, which VMware is expanding with this vCloud release. Looking to be mindful of its own resources, VMware turns to its own data points, which grows particularly strong through solid partnerships, to provide a leap into private cloud services. It’s also another way VMware is hoping to compete in an industry that’s reached a capable point of vertical growth. Competitors are bulking out consulting services in an effort to capture that growth, compounding the products and services already offered.
Other notable accomplishments from VMware include the recent team up with Amazon for the its ongoing transition to cloud services, as well as the acquisition of NeoAccel, a California-based provider of computer network security products. Along with expansion of product portfolio is its extension of product offerings to more industries, tackling the the healthcare industry as it takes to the cloud. Moreover, a recent case study highlights the importance of VMware and Intel as leading cloud companies that has helped enterprises to be cost-effective by offering efficient cloud environments.
