Pervasive Software Talks Hadoop, Launches DataRush 5.0

Cloud innovator Pervasive Software, which is here at the O’Reilly Strata ‘Making Data Work’ Conference with us this week, is taking the opportunity to discuss and demonstrate some open cloud solutions for businesses.  Director of Product Management Davin Potts is presenting “Supercharge Development and Performance of Hadoop Applications.”  He will discuss Pervasive’s MapReduce product, as well as the usefulness of the open-source cloud management system Hadoop.

“[The presentation] will discuss how to get more done, faster, with high-performance MapReduce and expand the universe of Hadoop possibilities with tools to speed and simplify development and deployment of analytic applications, such as Pervasive DataRush”

Hadoop and Pervasive go a long way back, as indicated by a blog post by the latter discussing Hadoop support posted last year. Moreover, in addition to Potts’ presentation the company is also unveiling the fifth version of DataRush, supporting Hadoop MapReduce.

“Pervasive DataRush now also scales across clusters, including the ability to accelerate every node in a Hadoop cluster, offering unmatched speed and economics. Pervasive DataRush 5.0 also provides easy parallel development capabilities for programmers in any JVM language, notably Java, Python, JRuby and Scala.”

DataRush v5 enables rapid development of automatically scaling applications, and provides data access to Hadoop HDFS as well as other data stores, data warehouses, databases and flat files.

Hadoop has been a major point of discussion at this year’s inaugural Strata conference, and SiliconANGLE was there to give the Cloud Angle on the event first hand. We discussed how Yahoo  dropped its Hadoop distribution in favor of Apache Hadoop just yesterday, and our Editor-in-Chief Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins gave the angle on Big Data, making a mention Hadoop’s role in this sector.
