Verizon and Android In Sync, Industry Titillated by $5B Revenue Outlook
After bathing in victory with an iPhone’s sales triumph, Verizon wireless revisits its V Cast for Android. The music application will bring together full song downloads, ringtones and ringbacks all in one place- a never before seen upgrade in the mobile music industry, which is looking at an explosive $5.5 billion in revenue by 2015. Juniper Research made this billion-dollar forecast on music consumption on mobile handsets that reached $3.1 billion in 2010. However, online piracy remains the top nemesis of this predicted growth.
Greg Haller, Vice President, Consumer Solutions for Verizon Wireless spearheaded this update and expressed great confidence in what could-be a breakthrough in terms of consumer music experience. He said, “Verizon Wireless is taking a leap forward with V CAST Music. We’re bringing the different kinds of music people love to have on their phones together in one, easy-to-use application, making it easy for customers to get what they want at lower prices,” said. We’ve added features to V CAST Music that make it simple and more fun to enjoy your favorite music on your phone and with your friends and family.”
In addition, songs can now be transferred from the Android phone to PCs and other attuned MP3 device by means of V Cast Media Manager. A wish list allowing users to utilize the tools to monitor future purchases and send song suggestions to friends and family also is a great feature for V Cast Music. There are selected Android smartphones that have the pre-loaded app, but existing subscribers will be prompted to upgrade on their next use.
Verizon Wireless is not alone in recent mobile music upgrades. Billboard just unveiled its new iPhone App called Billboard Chart App that will bring the hottest music countdown in the land straight to iPhone. Far-reaching Shazam on the other hand, is taking music to the masses and is currently working with a number of platforms and app stores. The latest to take on mobile music subscriptions is Spotify, as reported by Madalena David. The $5 billion prophecy is truly driving everyone nuts to improve and have a fair share of that sum.
