Big Cloud Developments with GigaSpaces’ New Platform for SaaS, PaaS

Just before we wrap up Q1, cloud scaling solutions provider Gigaspaces has another surprise for the cloud and its users—a second generation cloud-enablement platform. The first generation enterprise application scaling and deployment to the public was released sometime in 2009. The rocketing of cloud demand for enterprise cloud enablement and ISV SaaS enablement platforms was the main driver around this development.

Adi Paz, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, expressed his excitement and pitched in some details about the new product, saying, “We are excited to announce this up-and-coming GigaSpaces platform, which is truly unique in that it offers an exclusive silo-free architecture to customers building their PaaS or SaaS environments, enabling them to gain unprecedented efficiencies and fast time to market. This new product offers a field-proven technology, minimizing the risks associated with migrating to the cloud, making former ‘mission impossibles’ very possible indeed.”

This new product aims directly at private and hybrid cloud-based solutions in several areas, which include silo-free architecture combined with end-to-end application, cross-stack fine-grained multi-tenancy, built-in DevOps, out-of-the-box third-party middleware management and openness, providing effortless portability, multi-language and multi-middleware support.

GigaSpaces has been incredibly visible for the first quarter of 2011. The organization capitalizes on partnership and it is seen with its union with CloudTran for growing virtualized platforms, taking the cloud down under as they tie up with Protogen and the recent venture with Excelian to target gaming and finance as it brings dynamic scalability. GigaSpaces also broaden its cloud management facilities with the release of XAP 8.0—and eXtreme Application Platform. The XAP elastic caching platform is now being utilized by the pharmaceutical industry to take care of real-time clinical information. Undoubtedly, enterprise PaaS shows huge potential in providing solutions for users and is a key driver to the future of the IT industry. And, GigaSpaces, with the untiring we’re seeing for the last 3 months, may just be the frontrunner.

GigaSpaces takes a platform agnostic approach. This, its value lies in its capability to connect users to multitude of cloud services— like an a la carte approach to cloud services.  This latest development furthers its approach to opening the cloud, positioning it as a service management tool for navigating this expansive space.
