EMC Delivers New Cloud Systems, VMware Plays Along

Starting today, EMC, distributors and resellers will be able to offer the two new systems, EMC VNXe and VNX unified storage solutions. The series is aimed at serving small and medium-sized businesses, and is offered primarily through EMC partners, being the world’s simplest unified storage system, providing the ability to deploy storage for hundreds of Exchange mailboxes or VMware data stores.

In addition to this new service, the company is also offering the EMC 25% Storage Efficiency Guarantee, allowing customers to now purchase 25% less raw capacity than products from any other unified storage solution while benefiting from the same amount of usable capacity. Partners such as FusionStorm and International Computerware assess EMC’s solutions:

“Our customers want storage that is simple, reliable and able to seamlessly integrate with the applications they use to run their business. EMC has hit a home run with the VNX family, making it easy for customers to deploy. They’ve made the investment to help us make VNX the foundation of our comprehensive solutions with some of the most extensive training we’ve seen,” said Daniel Serpico, President of FusionStorm.

“EMC’s VNX and VNXe have enabled ICI to expand its reach into midrange and SMB markets. To keep up with the accelerated demand that ICI is already seeing with the VNXe in the SMB space, ICI is adding more members to its SMB focused team. EMC has also made it easier than ever for partners to complete product training in no time at all,” said Jamie Shepard, EVP, Technology Solutions at International Computerware, Inc. (ICI).

Today EMC had its Data Domain Global Deduplication Array (GDA) with DD Boost awarded as the “2010 Product of the Year” by the editors of TechTarget’s Storage Media Group. Regarding joint efforts with important names, EMC will offer Microsoft customers solutions to confidently address requirements for virtualized Microsoft applications including Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, with the aim of accelerating application deployment; enabling IT flexibility; simplifying management, while reducing cost and risk.

At the same time, industry cohabitator VMware launched a new platform, VMware vCenter Operations, which centralizes and automates administrative control of dynamic virtual and cloud environments. The new package provides visibility throughout a private or hybrid cloud system in addition to analytics/reporting on the data that flows through it.
