It looks like a titan is late for the clash at the Mount Olympus. But as they say, better late than never. Apotheker and the whole of Hewlett Packard will now be heading to the cloud. One of the world’s largest IT company will start selling cloud computing services, cloud infrastructure and software apps to its customers. HP will face off with Amazon and Google for this line of business.

The ever-visionary Leo Apotheker, who happens to be HP’s Chief realizes the need to enter the cloud saying, “We see clearly a world in which the impact of cloud and connectivity is changing not only the user experience, but how individuals, small businesses and enterprises will consume, deploy and leverage information technology.”

The billion dollar company seems keen in rebooting its strategies early on. They opened the year with new strategic plans that touch base with big data and cloud computing. After all, HP is not only about high profile CEO’s and controversies. Their recent victories include a $1.6 billion bid won over rival Dell for 3PAR and significant spike in dividends following Apotheker’s delivery of his dreamy goals for HP. The former SAP CEO is takes the whole team to chase the software market and kaboom! HP’s soul is back. Recent product launches also prove to be promising as they outdid IBM and Cisco.

In an official statement, HP declared, “The convergence of cloud computing and connectivity is fundamentally changing how IT is delivered and how information is consumed. Powerful trends like consumerization, cloud computing, and connectivity are redefining the way people live, businesses operate and the world works.”

Cloud computing being the phenomenon that it is today has been attracting big fishes onto its vast waters. Dell has also moved into the cloud with latest mergers with Boomi and Opscode. EMC and Cisco reunite in Texas, also for cloud.  The cloud is an immense, immeasurable platform that welcomes guests far and wide. The continued entrée of giants into the scene only establishes the idea that cloud services is trending now.
