Zetta Reflects the Cloud with ZettaMirror 2.0

By this time, there is no doubt in my mind that cloud is a perfect platform for emerging players. Zetta, a leading provider of enterprise cloud storage services founded in 2008, is one of the companies that easily grabbed the attention of the tech community and recently received $11.5 million funding from investors to expand their business. Today, they launched an extremely intelligent solution called ZettaMirror 2.0, which will be showcased in Zetta Data Protect portfolio at the SNW Spring 2011 happening at the Emerging Technology Pavilion.

ZettaMirror 2.0 is an agent software that can afford optimum speedy data transfers and enhanced controls performance of up to ten times the usual, for cloud storage solutions. At the onset, the program will “mirror” local data to a virtual site and will create a premium replica of the data that can be easily accessed online. Other exciting features of ZettaMirror are faster and lower overhead data sync option that runs in a fraction of the time for Big Data needs. It also boasts flexible and longer history browsing element that will allow users to save snapshots of activities done for thirty days up to seven years or even more.

A number of similar open cloud services are flourishing and attracting interest of industry heavyweights. Big players like EMC, IBM, Amazon, Juniper Networks, Hewlett-Packard and others are looking at aggressive expansion of their domain within the cloud business. Creating big buzz lately is Hadapt, an analytical platform made to execute complex analytics on both structured and unstructured data within in a single cloud-optimized system, real-time. Its potential was so gleaming it easily magnetized funds from Hadoop to expand its open cloud enterprise.

The vast, unexplored opportunities within the cloud (storage, computing, etc.) make it a haven for fresh ideas and new talents. They are popping out like mushrooms, out of nowhere. And this is good. Competition, sparking concepts and cheaper costs is what the cloud’s all about.  Here’s a recent interview with Zetta founder Jeff Treuhaft. See more interviews at SiliconAngle.tv.
