Mobile Marketing Trends Show Tremendous Growth

The mobile world is making several developments these days, with Mpire raising $3 million in a round led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Following this funding, the company also changed its name to AdXpose, which is also the name of one of the new measurement aids from the company. Besides changing the name, it also made several changes in its internal environment. It recently promoted president and Chief Revenue Officer Kirby Winfield to the position of CEO, and that SVP of Strategic Development Ryan Polley will take on the newly created position of COO.

As described by AdXpose, its new product is cloud-based solution that builds on some of the guidelines released by the Interactive Advertising Bureau and the Mobile Marketing Association.

Another development comes from the tablet segment, in the form of a Greystripe report that shows the trend of tablet device users. The report is based on the on the 100-plus ad campaigns launched through Greystripe’s mobile platform.

“Mobile advertising on the iPad is off to a great start. We’re experiencing a growing interest in integrating touch-based interactivity with video content. We expect this to continue as the number of people using tablets skyrockets this year with the launch of the iPad 2 and a suite of Android tablets,” said Dane Holewinski, director of marketing at Greystripe.

The results show that images and videos are driving factors behind the sale and ongoing monetization of tablets, especially Apple’s iPad. While purchasing a tablet device, most of the consumers looked for better video quality than static images. The iPad’s large touch screen is preferred by advertisers, as it offers a better opportunity to connect with their target customers, using engaging and interactive advertising methods. Moreover, mobile and internet videos are showing increased consumption by American consumers, which brings forth another big opportunity for brand advertisers.

We also heard Zipline Games offering its newly developed Moai platform, which will enable mobile games to run more seamlessly across iPhone and Android using Amazon’s Web services. Though the platform is still in Beta version, it is expected to work with more than 50 game studios and designers including some major names like Jordan Weisman, who is well known for games like Shadowrun and MechWarrior.

Currently, Zipline is also working on its own two new game projects; Wolf Toss and Chronosaur. While the first one is similar to Angry Birds, second one is a complex arcade action game. We’ll be able to see both games soon, as they’re slated to come out in the next few months. Besides these developments, the company has also raised an undisclosed amount of capital from Benaroya Capital and Founder’s Co-op.

The funding is part of a current supporting trend that reflects an economic hope in mobile marketing, with online TV playing a big part of this growing market.  Last week  TidaITV raising a whopping funding amount of $30+ million led by New Enterprise Associates with participation from Comcast Interactive Capital and Valhalla Partners that brought the Baltimore-based company’s total funding to $61 million.
