Business acceleration, leveraging existing IT investments and a virtualized infrastructure—these are the three cornerstones enveloping the tech community of today. Companies are on a race to provide the many firsts, and be able to set standards upfront. Known for obstinately surprising everyone from an innovation standpoint, VMware now achieves an important milestone within the cloud computing sphere. The industry’s first open PaaS, Cloud Foundry is released today.
In an official statement following the big launch, Tod Nielsen, Co-President, Application Platform of VMware talks about how Cloud Foundry answers the mounting demand for cloud services. He said, “The shift to cloud computing is fundamentally transforming what businesses and consumers expect from applications, profoundly challenging traditional application development and infrastructure.
“Cloud Foundry delivers a dramatically simplified approach that embraces the diversity and speed of modern development that is at the heart of today’s most successful applications while exploiting key trends in mobile, social and cloud computing.”
Deemed as the new generation platform designed specifically for cloud-computing environments, Cloud Foundry aims to streamline the development, delivery and operations of modern apps, and rallying developers to run and scale their applications. This concept will also be embracing public and private clouds and standards and frameworks set forth by the industry.
The Palo Alto-based virtualization enterprise has visited the headlines a number of times since we welcomed 2011 with details of their future releases. Before the end of the 2nd quarter, VMware is looking at launching a desktop virtualization product dedicated for Honeycomb. Other clients that sought their services include the iOS of Apple, Android and Blackberry Playbook tablet.
Together with Cisco and EMC, VMware will support the evolution of the data center in Australia to a private cloud with Vblock infrastructure. After a team up with biggies, the company acquired Mozy, an online data backup provider and heightens the rivalry with Amazon. VMware also stretched its boundaries and has now invaded the Asia with its partnership with SingTel. It also toured hybrid cloud at Partner Exchange 2011.
With the rise of big data, data analytics and cloud and their interdependence of each other, the industry players have sparked majority of the advancements made in today’s world.
