HP Still Targets Consumers with New Product Line

Electronics giant Hewlett-Packard had quite a weekend, considering it launched multiple new business laptops which seem to be sharing a border with more consumer-sided devices. This is a part of the company’s effort to get into higher margin areas, both in the cloud and hardware space. And, it seems to have been working out quite well.

The first model is the all new 14.5-inch HP Envy 14, which comes with CoolSense technology designed to regulate the laptop’s heat based on its position, USB 3.0 support and more. It has an etched-metal alloy case. It will be available for $999 and up in the U.S. on June 15. It also features new Intel Core microprocessors and options for AMD Radeon stand-alone graphics chips.

Moving on to the HP ProBook 5330m, this laptop is less than one inch thick and comes with a duel-core Intel, 13.3-inch screen and HP’s fingerprint reader, all for a starting price of $799.

Hewlett-Packard’s Elitebook p series has two new “ultra-portable laptops” – tablet-laptop hybrids. The HP Elitebook 2560p model comes in at 3.68 pounds with a 12.5-inch diagonal HD display and an integrated optical drive. The 2760p comes with similar specs, only with a 2.1-inch screen.

HP launched three additional models over the weekend, including the HP Mini 210 laptop with selection of five colors, HP Beats Audio, and HP QuickWeb 3.0. The Pavilion dv4 joins the list with a 14-inch screen and two different colors as well CoolSense technology.

All of the models above are currently available in the US.

Hewlett-Packard has been working on more than just new laptop and tablet models lately, and has some big plans for the cloud. Data leaked on the LinkedIn profile of Scott McClellan, the interim vice president of engineering for HP’s new cloud services initiative reveals some details of HP’s goals.

Still, HP is not the only company who had some product launches recently.  Dell recently launched an all new 4-socket blade server dubbed the PowerEdge M915 blade, and mBast released the free version of its mPact big data analytics tool.
