Fusion-io has redefined the competition with its relentless quest to further enhance flash memory technology. It has gained prominence from partnership with Stonefly and bagging a deal with Facebook. Since then, the Utah-based enterprise never looked back, despite criticisms. This week marks another milestone for the company, as it expanded its OEM relationship with Dell via additional ioDrive models to propel functionality of Dell’s PowerEgde Servers. This progress is aligned with Dell’s goal to expand networking and server solutions.
Executive Director of Platform Marketing for Dell’s PowerEdge Server portfolio, Brian Payne explains the current scenario and what is expected from the Fusion-io products and services: “As our customers continue to experience exponential data growth, the ability to place their most active data on servers with shared data decentralization becomes increasingly appealing for speeding up applications and enterprise database performance. With storage memory products from Fusion-io, Dell PowerEdge customers will be able to engineer a more powerful and flexible data infrastructure to meet their growing data needs.”
With this expanded OEM alliance, Dell will be providing three supplementary ioMemory-based products: (1) 320, (2) 640 GB ioDrives and (3) 1.28 TB ioDrive Duo. This move recognizes the competitive advantage brought by shared data decentralization. With this customers will now have more options to boost performance of certain applications with diminishing infrastructure and operating costs.
Other developments within the company include targeting the military market via next generation storage memory platform that will participate in the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration or CWID. Fusion-io also became the focus of a recent blog fight between two acclaimed experts: Steve Duplessie and Dave Floyer. This fast-rising storage star has also announced about their plans of hiring 40 to 50 more executives until end of year, especially now that they have big clients like Facebook and Credit Suisse. Together with JMR and Stonefly, Fusion-io keeps their heads up high to the cloud.
