SpringPad Adds More Retail Partners, Combining Convenience and Deals

Now with over one hundred partners, Springpad, the smartnote app that more than a million people use to keep track of anything they want to remember, added Shopping.com to its list. Its existing prominent partners include Groupon, Fandango, OpenTable and Facebook. Springpad delivers news, discounts, deals and a bunch of other services based on what products and services users save in their accounts such as places, movies, recipes and music.

“Our goal is to help our rapidly growing base of 1.5 million Springpad users save time and money when they’re ready to act on the more than 18 million saved items that are important to them,” said Jeff Janer, CEO of Springpad.

“By integrating with more than 100 partners, we’re helping our users by delivering useful news and relevant offers such as price drops on the product they’ve been eyeing, when the movie they’ve been wanting to see is available on Netflix or when a Groupon deal is available for a restaurant they wanted to try.

Shopping.com is a healthy partner for Springpad with its 8,ooo global merchants featuring product specifications and competitive prices. We can expect Springpad to be updating their service by allowing user to receive reviews, as well as alerts once a product saved in their app have its price dropped. As for Groupon, it will deliver Springpad users daily deals for restaurants, destinations and services related to what they have bookmarked.

“Shopping.com’s large selection of more than 8,000 premier brands lends us vast coverage of in-demand products at competitive prices,” said Bridget Davies, Managing Director, U.S. Business at Shopping.com. “Our technology delivers rich coverage of product data alongside dynamic pricing, product availability and shipping information to provide users with great online deals. We’re excited to make these features available for more than 1.5 million Springpad users.”

In other personal cloud trends, Apple is scheduled to launch the iCloud service soon, which happens to be its 4th try in the music streaming industry. A bit skeptical, but it’s not farfetched that Apple can finally get it right this time. iCloud can also be safely assumed as Apple’s preparation for the growing demand for storage and access needs, and considering that it has an array of devices of its own includig iPad, iPhone and Macs, then it is likely to sit snugly in the pitch.

Also, here’s a comparison of two cloud backup up companies, Carbonite and Dropbox. This is an especially important area in information technology as more and more companies are making their transition the cloud. Plus, files’ accessibility and availability from virtually everywhere is a convenience like no other, driving the way we consume media and do business.
