Foodspotting Now On WP 7, Kills iPhone and Android Versions.

FoodspottingRecently I mentioned how Windows Phone 7 trails behind iPhone and Android app development.  Today, Foodspotting announced a version for Windows Phone 7.  Completely shattering the eyes of iPhone and Android versions.  So it claims.

Foodspotting, the food photo sharing app that has built a community around the sharing of specific dishes, is launching on Windows Phone 7 today. The Foodspotting Windows Phone app will retain all the functionality of the iPhone and Android apps, allowing users to view dishes nearby, look for a particular food, check out the various dishes at a restaurant and bookmark foods that they’re interested in trying.

The app also has a more streamlined interface and simplified feedback and language than existing iPhone and Android apps, features which Foodspotting says it will port over to other apps shortly. The company plans on letting users browse their “Wants” list from the app as well as follow people and guides in later Windows Phone 7 versions.

Foodspotting Head of Outreach Fiona Tang explained why the company decided to build a Windows Phone app, “We actually had requests for the community for it, and it’s just so pretty. [CEO Alexa Andrzejewski] is really design focused so we thought it’d be a good idea.”

From screenshots, it looks pretty.  However, food is not a specialty or hobby of mine.  Instagram works great to see what people are eating without extensive details of where to find it.

This is a great punch from a service indicating their Windows Phone 7 application exceeds in quality over iPhone and Android.  However, it will take a huge tidal wave to really get me interested in trying an application on a Windows platform.   Kudos to Foodspotting putting time and effort into their WP7 version.
