InstantBird: Feels Like Instant Messaging in Your Birthday Suit.
Today I stumbled on a cool instant messaging application for the Mac. IM’ing is nothing new, but the quest in finding the right application is still tough for some. Trillian, Adium, and Pidgin are three examples of go-to apps that connect to many different channels like AIM, MSN, and Google all at once.
InstantBird takes a different approach. Besides connecting on multiple platforms, they’ve created a mission statement revolving around people; focusing on the user experience instead of bloating up an application with features.
Instant messaging software deserves more attention: Given the amount of time spent using instant messaging everyday, it is worth spending a few minutes to choose the software that feels right to you.
Instant messaging is one part of your online life of which you can reclaim control.
It should just work! The purpose of a messaging software is to let you communicate, without it being in your way. You want to use it, not spend your time fighting against it.

Fighting against IM applications means that they don’t function the way you want them too. Adium in particular has a hard time staying connected to Facebook. Whether it’s firewall concerns or not, it still becomes a problem after awhile.
Instant Messaging is still a great part of many lives. I like to iterate the necessity of keeping things real-time. InstantBird is functioning very well, and able to rest in the corner of my 11 inch screen. For those of us with tiny screens, space is a priority. It’s as lightweight as your birthday suit.
