Samsung Galaxy S II in the US: August 29th is the Big Day

Samsung is bathing in the limelight with both good and bad publicity, but that doesn’t really matter for the mobile manufacturer.  After the European injunction, their India launch of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the supposed leak of the Nexus Prime to possibly run the latest version of Android Ice Cream Sandwich, Samsung’s sent out invites for their August 29th event in New York, which is believed to be an event for the US launch of the Galaxy SII as marked by the Roman numeral II on the electronic invite.

The backdrop of the invite is like a dark starry night, much like our galaxy, and then the big Roman numeral II.  Aside from the time of the event, 6:00 PM, nothing else follows, as further details will be announced as the event nears.  Rumors are flying that the event will also unveil major carriers for the Galaxy SII that includes American carriers which are AT&T Attain, Sprint Within, T-Mobile Hercules, and Verizon Function.

But before they get their party on in NYC, Samsung will be making an appearance in a Düsseldorf, German court to appeal the preliminary injunction granted to Apple that temporarily bans the sale of Samsung Galaxy Tab to members of the European Union, except Netherlands.

When asked how long it will take for the court to reach its decision, a spokesperson for Samsung stated, “I would think that it will take a week or two after the hearing, until a written decision is available. But it might also be possible that the judges decide directly on Aug. 25.”

If the court rules in their favor, their August 29th event will surely be a blast.  I’m sure many are already excited for the Galaxy S II launch, let’s just hope that Apple doesn’t block its US release.
