Global Warming Can’t Stop iPhone’s Oct. Launch

Rumors about Apple’s launch of the iPhone 5 are all pointing to October, a rumor semi-confirmed with yesterday’s revelation that Apple will have a big event on October 4.

The October launch of the iPhone 5 was later “confirmed” by Al Gore, former vice president of the US, environmental advocate and Apple board member.  During Gore’s speech at the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit held in South Africa, he let slip that the iPhones, yes iPhones, plural, will be out next month.

Gore was quoted saying, “Not to mention the new iPhones coming out next month. That was a plug.”

Gore had been an Apple board member for eight years now and not once, during those eight years, that he ever hinted or let slip of any product launch – until today.  Since he is part of Apple’s board, we can assume that he’s probably telling the truth.

So now we have the specific month when their product/s will be launched and we have a probable date, October 4th, now the only question that remains is that, “What will they be launching?”

First, we know that the iOS 5 will be coming this October.  Second, Gore’s statement could mean four things: 1) Apple is launching an iPhone 5 and a cheaper version of the iPhone 4; 2) Apple could be releasing ‘iPhones’ that come in different colors; 3) Gore could just be pertaining that Apple is mass produce the iPhone 5, thus ‘iPhones’; and 4) Gore could be wrong and he was just basing what he said on rumors.

Okay, the fourth one is very unlikely.  I don’t think he’d jeopardize his place at the board by spreading a rumor.  I wish he could have let more information slip.
