YouSendIt Secures Mobile Cloud Sharing with New iPad, Android Apps

YouSendIt, an early leader in business content collaboration service to offer an integrated approach for sending, sharing and signing documents online, announced a major advancement in delivering secure cloud content sharing for business users. This launch allows YouSendIt users to securely send files, share folders, synchronize devices and digitally sign documents from smartphones, tablets and desktops, wherever they go. Starting today, new mobile applications are available for iPad and Android as well as a desktop application for Mac in beta. In addition, YouSendIt is delivering updated iPhone and Windows desktop apps.

Built for Business Productivity

Increased access to content means higher productivity.  YouSendIt makes managing and sharing business content as simple as sending an email by delivering a completely integrated and consistent user experience either in the office or on the road. Business professionals can use YouSendIt to securely access and share content, collaborate with partners, sign contracts and deliver them to customers wherever they are.

Secure – from the Device to the Data Center

YouSendIt’s security policies ensure that files are protected. Content is encrypted both in transit and while at rest on YouSendIt servers. Files stored on mobile devices are encrypted and protected by an application passcode feature.

“The evolving work life of today’s professional is at the center of our thinking when we create new products,” said Brian Curry, vice president, product and business strategy, YouSendIt.

“Our goal is to make using YouSendIt simple and ubiquitous. Users don’t have time to learn new methods and practices in order to manage or share their files and documents. This latest release allows access to secure sharing and syncing of files everywhere our customers work.”

The Mobile Build Out for Cloud Collaboration

This marks an important step in YouSendIt’s development as the company deploys a cloud-based strategy to reel in new users.  YouSendIt’s targeting several types of users, from the business sector to the consumer end, as it bulks out its offerings in order to encompass more products and services.  It’s an appealing build-out for YouSendIt’s type of cloud service, which will require more collaboration and action-items as it competes with a growing number of companies all layering in similar functions to their own cloud tools, whether their core service is file-sharing or not.

And this course is largely thanks to mobile, an industry that’s prompted a lot of business- and consumer-facing cloud services now ready with practical applications.  ”It’s a critical element of our app strategy,” says YouSendIt’s Lori Shen.  ”We believe a lot of our users will be accessing content from mobile devices and the approach we’ve taken is to build function in a way that’s scalable, so it can be expanded to mobile and non-mobile platforms quickly.”

It’s certainly been an expedited update since we first heard from YouSendIt’s plans for expansion, which took a surprising turn over the summer.  ”The fact that we were able to come back within three months and demonstrate these apps on multiple platforms is a testament to our dedication,” Shen goes on.  ”The way we’ve focused on it is build our services for the platforms to uniquely take advantage of these features.  Mobile will be key for introducing upcoming features, like notifications.  And these are areas we’ll continue to invest in.”

YouSendIt’s iPad, iPhone and Android apps are available immediately for download in the Apple App Store and Android Market. Windows and Mac desktop apps are available from the YouSendIt website.  YouSendIt offers plans for individuals, teams and enterprises.
