IBM Gears Up for Social Business: the New Enterprise

This year at IBM’s own event Lotusphere 2012, we will witness the IBM partners pitching up in the social business. The event kicked off on January 15 with JumpStart sessions, and will last till Jan 19. Interestingly, this social, collaboration and community event will show attendees how IBM’s and its partners’ products and services run on, or integrate with IBM’s Lotus technology. Several IBM partners will be showcasing their solutions and services in Lotusphere 2012. Among those, Perficient, and will present on social Web experience at the conference.

With social business growing more than ever, organizations are realizing its importance and are approaching to integrate social media into their business processes, analytics and communication tools, while maintaining a positive experience for the end users.

“We’re thrilled to again contribute to Lotusphere—IBM’s premier annual event for social business and collaboration experiences,” said John Jenkins, vice president of Perficient’s IBM Business Group.

“Social business is no longer just a buzzword. As companies strive to improve worker productivity and drive innovation, more are turning to social business as a way to offer collaboration, communications and learning opportunities for their employees. Perficient partners with organizations to help navigate the social landscape, and design and implement the right technologies, whether it is CMS, portals or e-commerce solutions, to foster social interactions and realize more significant results.”

In addition to Perficient, other participating IBM partners include Premier and VSee. While Perficient will discuss key technology solutions and services, including portals, collaboration, content management, BPM, SOA integration, business analytics and ECM for major industries, VSee will release a plug-in for IBM Sametime that allows for one-click Web video calling.

IBM has unveiled new social business software and services that deliver new networking capabilities to the ever increasing social-savvy workforce. The company is also adding deep analytics to its social business software, which will demonstrate its ability to deliver key enhancements on top of existing solutions to make them more relevant to more users. Here are some of the solutions that IBM’s new software will be providing:

• Integrate wikis, blogs, activity streams, email, calendaring and more, and flags relevant data for action.

• A cloud-based productivity suite allowing users to co-edit documents in real time.

• Integrate social networking capabilities with enterprise content management to better connect people with information.

To the cloud

IBM is set to launch IBM Docs as part a collaborative service similar to Google Apps that it is calling the IBM SmartCloud for Social Business. As part of the effort, IBM is placing its LotusLive services under the SmartCloud name, which now encompasses IBM’s “smarter commerce,” brand, analytics and industry specific solutions such as its Smarter Cities efforts. We are performing the live coverage of the Lotusphere event. Catch more details here, from Alex Williams who’s attending the event.
