VMware Partners Adopt Cloud Portfolios
Virtualization software maker VMware has a massive ecosystem of resellers, and a portion of them had some news today relating to their relationships with the company.
Logicalis is the first one. The firm announced that it has integrated VMware’s open-source PaaS, Logicalis Enterprise Cloud, into the Logicalis Enterprise Cloud hosted service. Customers can take advantage of Foundry instances powered by the OEM’s own infrastructure.
“VMware technologies have been at the core of Logicalis’ development framework for years. They have significantly accelerated our development efforts, decreasing the time to value for our customers, enabling Logicalis to help our clients build applications faster, scale applications better, and do it all in a less expensive and more open manner,” says Brian Day, Logicalis’ director of Cloud Solutions.”
Next up is ManageEngine. The IT management tools make (made evident by the company’s name) announced that its Applications Manager performance software supports the VMware RabbitMQ messaging middleware.
Blueblock, a vCloud data center operator, also revealed extended support for VMware. Its vCloud Datacenter Service is now powered by VMware vCloudDirector 1.5, an upgrade that comes bundled up with an improved interface and more functionality for its public cloud users.
VMware is busy expanding its ecosystem, especially through broader agreements such as its latest with Symantec. Security is one of the biggest topics that need to be addressed in the cloud, and this partnership aims to do just that by adding endpoint protection and other enhancements. The former is especially important in light of the mobile trend, and the fact consumer adoption of smartphones is driving employees to use their handsets for work. VMware is taking this on via more approaches than one–another initiative the company is working on is virtualization software for Android, which ‘splits’ a device into two different profiles for business and personal use.
